It’s a game that spans generations and everyone knows the rules. I Can for Kids wants to keep the fun alive and involve the community in a game of Tag to benefit hungry kids this summer.
The fun starts this Friday!
By using Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, participants are encouraged to make a $5 or more donation to I Can for Kids, then ‘tag’ their friends to keep the game going. Once tagged, those who are ‘it’ are encouraged to keep the game going by donating and tagging their friends and family.
Make sure to use our Tag image and our hashtags, #tagyoureit or #tagtoendsummerhunger.
All proceeds raised will go towards feeding hungry children in Calgary this summer as the demand for food packs is larger than ever. We hope to distribute more than 60,000 meals to hungry children in Calgary this summer.
“Summer can be the hardest and hungriest time of the year for thousands of kids who lose access to their school nutrition programs during the break,” says co-founder Sutton Garner. “We need the community’s help to reach a 60 per cent increase in demand for our food packs this summer.”
Thanks to a generous donation, those who take part, can double their impact. Rotary Club of Calgary Olympic will be matching every donation, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000 during the month of May. “I Can for Kids is an organization that does great work,” explains Hendrik Kraay, president of Rotary Club of Calgary Olympic, “It should be supported by as many people as possible so that we can eliminate childhood hunger in Calgary over the summer.”
A donation of $5 can feed a hungry child for a day or more. With Rotary Olympic’s match, a child can eat for two days or more. If we are able to meet our monetary goal through the Tag Game, this will provide 4,000 Multi-Meal food packs, totalling 16,000 meals, for hungry children in Calgary this summer.
Donations can be made online or by purchasing a $5 I Can for Kids food pack from Calgary Save-On-Food locations throughout the month of May.
Tag, you’re it!
